Great weather, wacky activities, delicious BBQ and a spectaular fireworks display were the highlights of this years 4th of July celebration at Chewonki. We started the morning off with a choice activity period. In the afternoon we took a break from our regular activities and participated in a variety of zany mini activities including oatmeal arm wrestling, extreme obstacle course, egg toss, sun butter and jelly relay, giant waterslide, greased watermelon football and more! Winners of the relays got to pie Garth, Matt and Reis in the face with whip cream pies. Campers enjoyed a BBQ on the back lawn of burgers, potato salad, lemonade and strawberry shortcake. After dinner we played “revolutionary” kingdoms on the lower field. Instead of knights, kings and bishops we had the Colonists versus the British and French. To top off an already awesome day we gathered all the campers on the lower field for a reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by a surprise fireworks display.
